Who is responsible

Trips Escape (Proprietary Firm), operating the Trips Escape brand, decides how your personal data is used (the “Data Fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) and is responsible for personal data processed through this service. “We”, “us”, and “Trips Escape” refer to that operator.

Information we collect

Depending on the features you use, we may collect:

  • Your name, email address, and mobile number that you provide or use to create an account.
  • Account and sign-in profile details made available by Clerk when sign-in options such as Google sign-in are enabled.
  • Travel and booking details, including routes, dates, passenger or guest counts, selected services, booking status, and support communications.
  • Traveller details a supplier needs for a booking: name as on the ID, date of birth, gender, nationality, and passport number and expiry where required.
  • Passport and visa documents you upload for a visa or insurance request. These are stored encrypted.
  • Destination, dates, preferences, and other details you choose to submit to Musafir AI (our AI travel assistant) or an enquiry form.
  • Payment status and transaction references from the payment provider. We do not intend to store full card numbers or card security codes.
  • Device, session, security, and service-usage information needed to operate and protect the site.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support.
  • Search for travel options, submit booking requests, manage bookings, and send service-related updates.
  • Process payments, cancellations, refunds, fraud checks, and accounting records where those features are enabled.
  • Generate optional Musafir AI suggestions, improve service reliability, and diagnose errors.
  • Meet legal obligations, respond to disputes, and protect users and the service.
  • Send marketing messages only where permitted and with your consent where required. You can opt out at any time by contacting us.

Sharing and service providers

We share information only as needed to provide the requested feature, meet legal obligations, or protect the service. We do not sell your personal data.

  • Clerk provides account authentication. Google sign-in, when enabled, shares the profile information needed to authenticate your account.
  • Razorpay processes payment information and transaction events when payment services are enabled.
  • Our travel booking technology partner, and the airline, hotel, cab operator or package supplier itself, receive the itinerary and traveller details needed to search for or fulfil your booking.
  • Brevo sends our emails and Meta’s WhatsApp Business service sends our WhatsApp messages.
  • OpenAI may process Musafir AI inputs to produce AI-generated suggestions that you request. We do not send your passport, payment or contact details to the AI.
  • Our eSIM partner receives the details needed to issue an eSIM you buy. If you buy travel insurance through us, our IRDAI-licensed insurance partner and the insurer receive the details needed to issue the policy.
  • Hostinger provides hosting and related infrastructure, which may process service data and technical logs.
  • We may disclose information when required by law, in response to valid legal requests, or to protect rights and safety.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site may use essential session, authentication, security, and preference cookies. If analytics are enabled, cookies or similar technologies may measure site use. Where our Trustpilot rating is shown, it is displayed by Trustpilot’s own widget, which Trustpilot serves under its own privacy policy. You can manage cookies through your browser; blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or booking features from working.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service, handle support and disputes, maintain security, and meet legal or recordkeeping obligations. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.

Booking, invoice, payment and refund records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires. Passport and visa documents you upload are deleted 90 days after the trip or request ends, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Marketing consent and opt-out records are kept as proof of your choice.

Messages and your choices

Booking messages (confirmations, tickets, changes and refunds) are sent because they are needed for your booking. Offers and marketing are sent only with your consent.

  • To stop offers, use the unsubscribe link in any offer email, or reply STOP on WhatsApp. STOP also stops our trip companion messages. Booking messages continue.
  • Reply START on WhatsApp to receive offers again.
  • Trip companion messages start only when you reply COMPANION ON.

Your rights in India

Subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, applicable rules and lawful exceptions, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct or update it;
  • erase it, except records the law requires us to keep (see Retention above);
  • withdraw a consent you gave (this does not affect what was done before you withdrew);
  • record a person you nominate to use these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
