Goa

India’s smallest state by area, on the Konkan coast: beaches, Portuguese-era churches and seafood.

Goa is India’s smallest state by area, on the Konkan coast of the Arabian Sea. It is known for its beaches, its Portuguese-era churches and houses, and its seafood.

The churches and convents of Old Goa, including the Basilica of Bom Jesus, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. North Goa has the busier beaches such as Baga, Calangute and Anjuna; South Goa has quieter ones such as Palolem, Colva and Benaulim.

Getting there: Goa has two airports, Goa International Airport at Dabolim (GOI) and Manohar International Airport at Mopa (GOX). Madgaon and Thivim are the main railway stations.
